When I’m around and about, it strikes me that urban dissent is recorded on a concrete canvas, the very fabric of our cities. Often grafitii is clumsy and ugly. Occasionally it is targeted and thought provoking. This overpass in Newport is large – by Welsh standards – and contains examples of both types. In a strange way, the overpass is visually striking, as daylight leaks through the gaps in its contours. I took a few minutes to capture some shots while pedalling around on my folder.
The shots were taken on my Fujiflm and using an app that emulates the simplicity of the Holga pinhole camera. Spot the ghostly cycling apparitions, trying to avoid the chaotic and busy Newport roads.
