Rio’s first cargo bike championships?

Mid-winter blues, lack of vitamin ‘D’, Seasonal Affected Disorder, call it what you will, but when I strayed across this video it was mana from heaven. Mikael Colville-Andersen – CEO of Copenhagenize – is working toward creating Rio’s first cargo bike championships. The relevance of the race here is significant. Cargo bikes are currently a part of Brazilian culture and as the city rapidly modernizes, it would be a crying shame if they are replaced by delivery vehicles. On the evidence of this video however, that’s unlikely to happy any time soon.  Big, bold, bright and beautiful – let’s hope this event takes place.  Now where’s my passport?
