What was I thinking? The last time I rode an epic on cobbles – The tour of Flanders – it left me wrecked in all kinds of ways. Still…..it was one of the best weekend’s I’ve spent on a bike and temprorarily, the spring classics niggle was purged.
….7 years drift by…..
Then a coffee/sugar rush late yesterday afternoon made me react to an e-mail from the Paris-Roubaix challenge organisers and before you know it, a couple of mails and a few phone calls later and we’re in; a group of mates eager for two wheeled abuse of the highest order.
So its time to get the miles in. Time to hit the lumps and bumps. Time to practice our post event Belgian ale supping (that’s the easy bit). Time to look forward.
I’m excited already.
With thanks to my fellow ‘Here come the Belgians’ members for words of encouragement/baiting – there’s still time to enter lads. Cycle art by Diana Syduka. ‘Cross and cobbles’ Video courtesy of Alan Dorrington. You can read Alan’s excellent blog here.
