Headwind

Pylon wind B&W (1 of 1)

The headwind is the enemy of progress.

My bike is a constituent. A system comprising of  rider and cargo.

Books. Locks. Lights. Camera. Sports kit. Waterproofs. Crumpled papers. A solitary sock. A forgotten key. The paraphernalia of urban existence.

Hauled against the wind’s wishes. Fighting physics.

Every spin a battle, every revolution a victory.

Distance determines outcome. It’s short. I win.Today.

Closing the door, I can sense its frustration, billowing leaves around the porch.

It’ll be back tomorrow no doubt.

The headwind is the enemy of progress.
