Spartaneity

Spartan for life

spar·ta·ne·i·ty  (spnt-n-t, -n-)

n. pl. spar·ta·ne·i·ties

1. The quality or condition of being spartan in selection of bike choice, then riding in a brutal fashion.
2. Spartaneous behavior, pared back, full of effort.

I’ve coined another new word – spartaneity. It applies whenever you’re desperate for a ride, have super limited time, grab the most simple and pared back of bikes, then hit the road/trail/both as hard as possible to gain maximum benefit. For some bizarre reason, most of my rides seem to be planned acts of spartaneity.
