Tati’s “Jour de Fête”

Jour de Fete

From a movie recommended by fellow blogger Ohlefty, here is the lovely poster for the 1949 French comedy “Jour de Fête”. Directed by Jacques Tati, Jour de Fête recounts the tale of an inept postman who ‘frequently interrupts his duties to converse with the local inhabitants, as well as inspect the travelling fair that has come to his small community. Influenced by too much wine and a newsreel account of rapid transportation methods used by the United States postal system, he goes to hilarious lengths to speed the delivery of mail while aboard his bicycle.’ (thank you Wikipedia).  Judging by the bottom shot, this postie was probably also a crosser. He’s definitely ready for the 3 peaks. I’ve just added it to my lovefilm rental list.
