Spreading the love

The Embacher collection.

I’ve gone from being Twitter curious to Twitter convert in four short months. I’ve never known such a fabulous means of disseminating information on a grand scale. As a consequence, I’ve felt part of the battle for Blackfriars, kept in touch with my Belgian team-mates, joined the global sustainability debate and learnt all about new cycling innovations. Twitter came up trumps again today; A re-tweet courtesy of James@Bicycle design.

Witindustries are a Netherlands based cycle design company doing rather funky things with cycle components. From beautiful wooden handlebars, to folding mudguards, stunning wheels and ‘up-cycled’ bikes. The main problem with discovering this stuff on a regular (daily? hourly?) basis is that its not good news at all for your wallet. Espcially when you’re in the market for a new commuter. Particularly when you have a soft spot for vintage things. And definitely when you’re a confirmed bikeophile who wants nothing more than an extensive arsenal of bikes and all the time in the world to ride them. Is that too much to ask?

Probably <sigh>.

In the meantime, fantasies of an Embacher style garage can be indulged via the mouthpiece of Twitter and the magic of the internet.

An 'upcycled' bike. Breathing new life into old frames.
